Frequently asked questions.

Do you offer teletherapy?

Yes, I offer therapy sessions via a HIPAA compliant/secure video platform. Clients seeking teletherapy must be in North Carolina at the time of the session and have a private location to talk. For couples, although it is possible to be in two different locations and do therapy, it is preferable that you both be in the same location at the time of your session.

Do you take insurance?

I am an in-network provider with Blue Cross Blue Shield. Please contact me to determine if I am a provider for your specific plan. If you would like to use your insurance please verify the following information with your insurance provider.

  • Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?

  • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it, and have I met it yet?

  • Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

  • Does my plan require approval from my primary care physician?

If your insurance is not accepted many PPO insurance plans will reimburse a portion of out-of-network session fees. I can provide a superbill (invoice), which you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement. Please check with your insurance plan for out-of-coverage information.

Insurance and couples counseling: Most insurance plans do not pay benefits for couples counseling. In order to use insurance benefits for couples counseling, at least one partner needs to meet the criteria for mental health diagnosis, such as adjustment disorder, depression, anxiety, or another disorder that requires mental health treatment.

When we meet for the first couples counseling session, we can discuss whether you or your partner meet the criteria for one of the mental health disorders.

Some people have no problem with having a documented mental health diagnosis. However, others prefer to keep their relationship and personal growth counseling private.

What payment methods do you accept?

I accept debit, healthcare savings accounts (HSA and FSA), Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover credit cards. A card must be on file to schedule appointments. The card will be charged on the day of your appointment.

What is your cancelation policy?

24 hours notice is required for any non-emergency related cancellation in order to avoid a late cancel fee.

What can I expect in the first session?

Our first session will be a “get to know each other” session. I will lead you through the process of what’s bringing you in for therapy, understand what your concerns and goals are, and together we can determine if we are a good fit to move forward. It is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you may have about my therapy approach.
